Behind the Scenes: Filming Naomi and Matt's Wedding at Kilnsey Park Estate
As a wedding videographer, capturing every moment of a couple's big day is an important part of my job. Each wedding is unique and special, and I take pride in making sure that every moment is captured beautifully. Recently, I had the pleasure of filming Naomi and Matt's wedding at the stunning Kilnsey Park Estate in the Yorkshire Dales. In this post, I share with you how I filmed their special day.
First and foremost, I always arrive early to set up my equipment and prepare for the day ahead. This includes flying my drone to capture stunning aerial shots of the venue and surrounding area, as well as getting establishing shots of the places where the bride and groom will be getting ready.
Once I'm set up, I start filming the groom and groomsmen as they get ready. I capture shots of details like rings, suits, and conversations with their groomsmen. Next, it's time to film the bride and bridesmaids getting ready, capturing beautiful shots of the dress, shoes, perfume, and hair and makeup being done. I also make sure to get shots of the bridesmaids chatting and having drinks, as these candid moments add to the overall feel of the film.
Next, it's time to set up for the ceremony. I capture establishing shots of guests arriving and make sure that everyone who needs a microphone has one so that high-quality audio is recorded of the whole ceremony. The vows and readings are an essential part of any wedding film, so I make sure to capture them all.
After the ceremony, it's time for the couple photos and candid shots whilst drinks and canapés are served. I also film the wedding breakfast room and any extra details at this time. When it's time for speeches, I set up to record them from two angles and make sure everyone who is giving a speech has a microphone. Capturing the speeches in full is a critical part of my wedding films, as they capture the emotion and love shared on the day.
After dinner, the guests take a break while I continue to film candid shots and any extras that arrive, such as magicians or guitarists. Then it's time for the cake cutting and the first dance, and I make sure to capture every moment. I stay until the dancing is well underway, capturing all the fun and joy of the evening.
When the time is right, I say my goodbyes to the happy couple and head home to start editing their wedding film. The next time they hear from me will be when their trailer is ready, no more than two weeks after their big day.
Overall, filming a wedding is a huge responsibility and privilege. I always aim to do my absolute best for every couple I work with. Whether it's capturing the happy tears during the ceremony or the dance moves during the reception, I'm there to document every special moment that unfolds. And at the end of the day, my ultimate goal is to create a beautiful, timeless film that captures the essence of the couple and their unique love story. Naomi and Matt's wedding at Kilnsey Park Estate was no exception. It was an honour to be a part of their special day and I look forward to capturing many more magical moments for couples in the future.
