Marriage at The Friary: Sam and Lucinda’s Epic Wedding
Sam and Lucinda were married at Lucinda’s family home, a beautiful and historic medieval friary. While the house itself was exquisite, the gardens were equally breathtaking.
As the guests arrived, they were greeted by an exquisitely dressed marquee and a beautifully laid out ceremony area on the lawn. Anticipation was growing for the day ahead, as were the grey clouds in the sky. With the ceremony set to take place outdoors, everyone was subject to the whims of the weather. Fortunately, though we experienced nearly every weather type imaginable (except for snow!) the ceremony went smoothly and without the need for umbrellas.
Sam and Lucinda wrote their own vows, which added to the emotion of the event. With the vows sealed and the marriage declaration given, the guests lined up for the confetti throw.
The day continued from there, with plenty of mingling time for the guests over canapés and drinks, as well as mini golf and a band to keep them entertained. Although the couple’s wedding car wouldn’t start (due to being something of a family antique) the groomsmen ensured the couple could still take a ride in it by pushing them on a lap around the driveway.
Soon, the guests were called in for the wedding breakfast. Between courses, heartfelt speeches unfolded, including a touching joint address by the bride and groom themselves. After the best men’s speech in which the groom took something of a light ribbing, the bride’s incredibly talented aunty took the microphone and engaged the whole wedding with three raucous songs. Everyone joined in, rising to their feet and eventually getting up on the benches and tables.
As the evening progressed, the couple shared their first dance with the live band amplifying the energy present throughout the day. They filled the air with iconic hits, just as the fireworks soon filled the sky.
